About White Rose Figure Skating Club

The White Rose Figure Skating Club was founded in 1994 and became an active member of the United States Figure Skating Association that same year. The club was incorporated as a Pennsylvania non-Profit organization in September of 2006.

Our mission is to provide programs and a structured environment to promote the sport of figure skating. The club programs are designed to guide and instruct a skater from beginner to senior level.

across the universe

There are numerous events that our club sponsors each year to further promote and increase the publics' awareness of figure skating.

The WRFSC holds three test sessions yearly that allow a skater to progress through the eight USFSA skating levels. Each progressive level requires that the individual achieve an increasingly harder set of jumps and footwork.

The club participates with the local Special Olympics committee to provide instruction and experienced skaters to Special Olympian’s who wish to enter a skating program. This program runs from October to February each year.

The York City Ice Arena Learn-to-Skate program is staffed by instructors and helpers from the club, insuring that new skaters are given a structured and comprehensive path to either the Figure Skating Club, The Hockey Club or just to enjoy the rink's public skating sessions.

Our annual Holiday Show, held in December, includes club members and Learn-to-Skate students. The show's Holiday theme always includes a visit from our famous skating Santa.

Each May we present our Spring Ice Show. The musical theme changes each year. We have done shows based on Disney music, music from each decade, musicals and much more.

The First White Rose Invitational was held in May of 2001. The one day event drew 100 skaters and established our club in the open competition environment. The second Invitational, held in May of 2002, grew to a two day event which utilized both ice surfaces with 312 skaters attending. We continue to hold this event annually.

The club hosted the South Atlantic Regional Figure Skating Championships in 2002 and 2007. There are nine regional events held each year throughout the US. This event is a skater's first step to nationals. The 9 day event drew 1025 skaters in 202 and 750 in 2007.

The White Rose Figure Skating Club has hosted the Keystone State Games Figure Skating Championships from 2004 - 2007. This event draws 450+ USFSA and ISI skaters.
